A constitutional amendment for this is ridiculous! Injuries from drunk and reckless driving have taken a downturn so there is not as much money coming in. If the amendment passes, that money will always be designated to the Brain and Spinal Injury Trust
Fund to pay for care and rehabilitative services for Georgia citizens who have survived neurotrauma with head or spinal cord injuries, WHETHER IT'S NEEDED OR NOT. If it's desperately needed somewhere else, too bad because a lot of it will probably end up lining someones' pocket.

I sure hope this one doesn't pass!
Actually, I hope neither amendment passes, but it's just about a given on the first one because all people will see is "not raising taxes" and they won't think it through.

It isn't a tax - it is an amendment. SPLOST, LOST are not taxes. They are 'just ' a penny! Only in GA> I voted already - and voted NO to all three amendments. No way to get things done.

My thought exactly Johnny. I've never seen a state that is so eager to govern by constitutional amendments. I see it as a desperate attempt to fill in the gaps left by this insane resistance to paying taxes. Therefore, I almost always vote no on these amendment questions. If you want to have a civil society, stop with the silly gimmicks and raise the %(*^ing taxes!

When did amending the constitution become the process for funding instead of taxation?

Proposed Georgia Constitutional Amendment is on the ballot to provide a source of funding for Chelsey Park, the neurological rehab facility under construction in Dahlonega. How convenient.

I had been wondering where the money was going to come from to pay for these expensive treatment protocols. This explains it. "Reckless drivers" will be a source of revenue for Chelsey. But what about other injuries caused by reckless drivers?

Is this just another special interest law designed to enrich Community Health Systems of Macon, the nonprofit building and running the facility?

Shall the Constitution of Georgia be amended to allow additional reckless
driving penalties or fees to be added to the Brain and Spinal Injury Trust
Fund to pay for care and rehabilitative services for Georgia citizens who
have survived neurotrauma with head or spinal cord injuries?"

All persons desiring to vote in favor of ratifying the proposed amendment shall vote "Yes."

All persons desiring to vote against ratifying the proposed amendment shall vote "No."

If such amendment shall be ratified as provided in said Paragraph of the Constitution, it shall become a part of the Constitution of this state.
