Tom McMahan 1:55pm Jul 7 Most private schools are NOT the expensive schools that exist largely to serve a wealthy clientele. Those are the private schools that last, yes, but most private schools are church-based and come and go with regularity and they do NOT provide the services and education that public schools provide. In the same way that most parents who home-school can't adequately provide the educational background and support that public schools can, although there's a small percentage of parents who can do so. That's why private schools and home-schooling are never going to be the answer for most of society, and that's why we have to have strong public schools. Offends my egalitarian soul. BUT she can justify her reasons. Doesn'tmake it better. And the 28,00 a year she spends to do it, makes me CHOKE!!!! I love the singing, but my heart always hurts a bit for the kids I taught who never had a chance to experience the things that private schools have. Wouldn't normally bother, but his remarks are so egregious, I couldn't help doing my own fact check. :He isn't doing badly at untruths. doing badly on untruths. Today in the Gainesville Times, you are quoted as saying that you are opposed to Common Core and that 50 years of federalized education have failed. Then you go on to say that countries like Peru and Columbia perform better in math and science at the 14yo level. You use that as proof that federalization of education has failed in the US. JUST SO YOU KNOW: Peru has the best education in South America with free public education from K-college. - and it is nationalized . Columbia also has a nationalized education system.
