they hold an annual meeting in jasper. the emc proposes a slate of candidates for director. you can nominate yourself if you area customer. you can bring a busload of fellow customers to the meeting and get elected to the board and then get paid $25,000-$30,000 a year plus much insider information. they can also put you on other boards.

Same answer.

Because Amicacola EMC will not allow it.

AmEMC will not distribute broadband and AmEMC will not allow their owner-customers to deploy solar panels on their houses.

It is as simple as that.

And AmEMC is not a "big bad profit obsessed corporation.
AmEMC is a nonprofit coop owned by its customers. It has a legal monopoly to supply electric power to a certain area.

Why do the Customer-Owners of AmEMC tolerate this?
