Neal, it has been like that since at least 2003. I was active in politics in that cycle and went to Savannah to work a debate for a Senate candidate then to South Carolina to campaign during the Presidential primaries. In both locations, we were yelled at, harassed and threatened by Republicans. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I was afraid for my safety. It's gotten much worse now. Just last month I had a grown man threaten to beat me up on Facebook (cause that's how real men in 'Merica treat women I guess.) It's why I got out of working in politics... That and the disappointment of losing all the time.

Now that's one for the books. But don't let others disturb your peace. I know it's easy to say but hard to put into practice. They were words. Let them go.

I'm sick and tired of being surrounded by these foaming at the mouth Obama haters and the NRA cult. I was at the Batesville General Store having breakfast yesterday alone (1 other customer) minding my own business, when the other customer leaves and returns yelling at me "is this your car with the Obama Sticker on it", yes it is I reply. "Why don't you get a bumper sticker that says Jackass and put it next your others you moron", slams the door and gets in his car to leave. As stunned as I and the waitress was, I got up to see if he had damaged my car and get his tag #. No damage but he continued to yell some unintelligent nonsense. Very upsetting to say the least, all over a bumper sticker. This kind of intimidation is scary.

In Georgia, elected public officials can use campaign contributions for the "fulfillment and retention of office."

Who knew this?

I just learned this: In Georgia, an elected public official can use campaign contributions for the "fulfillment and retention of office". So campaign expense accounts are really permanent political job expense accounts. Elected public officials can use the money for any legal political purpose. They can be used to pay the costs of being an elected public official. They can be used for just about anything. I did not know this until 2 days ago.
