The fiber loop will have an OC level. A coolocation facility would have to purchase bandwidth from NGN. The term fiber loop is very general. You don't really know what you have until you know the OC level of that SONET (Syncronbous Optical NETwork). I do not think what the woman says about bandwidth price would apply with NGN-- the non-profit company. It may with AT&T or some other large carrier. But this shows how things are normally done. And how NGN could live up to their mission statement. I have faith they are able. :D

In fiber optics, speed is measured in Optical Carrier transmission rates (OC). OC 1 is 51.84mbps and all other levels are multiples of this number-- OC 2 is 2 times, OC 3 is three times, and so on. This is a good video and there's a good term in here-- Colocation. Pay attention to what she says about the cost of bandwidth at a colocation facility. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwowMDybXYg

Not from WS. I agree with Steve, they need to bring the decision makers here. And I don't think Bettye Willis is the one to bring in. I've heard enough of her speeches. But I think I heard differently from Bruce and NGN than you may have. Personally, I think NGN and its affiliates are the best chance N. GA has to attract business looking to relocate to N GA with broadband needs.

[Georgia Mountains Unitarian Universalist Church] CONGREGATIONAL WORKSHOP:

Betsy Petersen
Betsy Petersen 6:58pm Oct 29
CONGREGATIONAL WORKSHOP:
Who are we? Why are we here?

Friday, November 14th, 6 - 8:30pm & Saturday, November 15th, 9am - 3 pm

Healthy congregations continually ask themselves these big questions. They are important for clarifying the mission of the church and ensuring that members' time, work, and treasure directly supports that mission.

Please set aside this time to join us in thinking deeply about who we are, what we value, and how we can embody our values in our interactions with each other and the broader community. The end result will be the identification of our core values and the first steps in naming an action-oriented mission which employs those values and directs our future endeavors and growth.
Friday evening will be social and learning time as we orient ourselves for the work ahead. Beverages will be provided; we request each person contribute to a potluck hors d'ouevres buffet. Saturday will include a variety of small group activities and large group discussions which lead to a determination of our values and the drafting of mission statements for review and approval by the congregation. A catered lunch of BBQ with vegetarian options will be provided. Childcare will be available for both sessions.

We need this workshop to be as widely inclusive as possible. If you can join us, please RSVP to Nancy Hunt (nancyhunt2012@yahoo.com) the number of adults attending and your need for childcare.
