Many of us middle class people, though, are a little disappointed in the results of the ACA as far as the promise we heard time and time again of how much it would drastically lower medical costs thus giving us more buying power. However, the Party which does the most to convince the middle class that the government is on their side and develops a solid plan for improving our plight will win out in future elections. I am sick and tired of seeing CEO's, the "job creators," the upper 1% getting richer and richer while getting government subsidies and outrageous tax breaks while the standard of living for the middle class shrinks even more. I have not seen a pay raise nor a cost of living increase in over 10 years while at the same time insurance costs have increased, utilities have increased, taxes have increased. I have seen hard-working friends lose their homes when the Recession hit. I think I speak for many when I say we can't stand it anymore and we are looking for answers in our elected officials. Frank Gilkeson 12:16pm Nov 26 i agree with schumer's critique of the aca to the extent that obama should have fixed the economy first. i actually thought so at the time. apparently obama advisors expected the Stimilus to fix the economy. it did not fix the economy. the economy is still not fixed for the middle class. I listened to it live and found it quite stimulating. Highlights for me. Key issue is middle class is losing out in current economy. GDP and stock market up and Middle Class Income down. Technology and globalization are causing more economic benefits to go to capital than to labor. The way to win is to focus on lifting up the middle class with government programs and law changes. It was a mistake in 2008 to push for heathcare reform before completely fixing the economy.
